Happy Birthday, Keith.
It was Keith’s birthday on Thursday just gone, here is a moment to celebrate and learn about how he changed, shaped and touched so many lives. With gratitude, Keith.
Every so often, someone takes a journey that not only transforms their own life but ripples out to impact thousands of others. Keith Wilson, affectionately known as the “Cacao Shaman”, is one such person. His story isn’t just about sourcing a superfood, it’s about following a soul calling into the heart of the rainforest and discovering the ancient wisdom of cacao, not as a commodity, but as a sacred plant spirit.
At I AM BEING, our cacao ceremonies honour the very essence of Keith’s journey. We serve Keith’s Cacao, the most pure, energetically intact ceremonial-grade cacao on the planet—inviting people into deeper connection with themselves and each other.
Let us take you on the extraordinary journey that brought this medicine to the world and how it continues to inspire the cacao ceremonies we hold in London and beyond.
A Call to Something Deeper
Keith Wilson’s life wasn’t always steeped in ceremony and rainforest living. Originally from the United States, Keith had lived what many might consider a conventional Western life. But a deeper knowing was stirring inside, a feeling that there was more to life than what he’d been taught.
In the 1990s, that call grew too loud to ignore. It wasn’t just a nudge—it was a demand for transformation. And so, Keith followed his intuition, leaving behind modern comfort for the unknown wilderness of Central America.
He didn’t go in search of cacao. He went in search of truth.
The Rainforest as Teacher
The rainforests of Guatemala are dense, ancient, and rich with medicinal plants that hold generations of indigenous wisdom. To walk through this landscape is to step into a living, breathing temple.
Keith settled near Lake Atitlán, a powerful energetic vortex surrounded by volcanoes and traditional Mayan villages. It was here, in this sacred land, that the rainforest began to work on him, softening his edges, expanding his perceptions, and guiding him inward.
As he lived among the land and its people, Keith encountered cacao not on a grocery store shelf, but in ceremony. The local communities weren’t using it to make chocolate…they were communing with it.
And so, he began to listen….
Cacao as a Conscious Spirit
Keith experienced something that changed his life: he realised cacao was not just a plant, but a conscious being—a heart-opening, grounding, and truth-activating spirit with a mission.
This wasn’t a psychedelic journey. It was subtle, deep, and clear. The cacao spirit, as Keith describes, began speaking to him directly; guiding him through inner work, emotional healing, and spiritual insight.
The message was simple but profound: share me with those who are ready to awaken.
From this point on, Keith dedicated himself to working with cacao as a spiritual ally. Not to commercialise it, but to serve it—to honour its sacred purpose of helping humanity reconnect to the heart.
Sourcing Cacao with Integrity
Keith didn’t just grab the nearest beans and start selling them online. He spent years studying the land, the fermentation and drying processes, and connecting with local Mayan cacao farmers to find cacao grown in full alignment with its spiritual essence.
His mission was to preserve the purity of the cacao—to avoid the industrial processing that strips away the medicinal compounds and the spirit of the plant. He wanted to offer cacao as the Mayans once did: whole, powerful, and sacred.
The result was Keith’s Cacao: 100% pure ceremonial-grade cacao, ethically sourced, vibrationally intact, and deeply heart-opening.
The Birth of Modern Cacao Ceremony
While indigenous communities have long used cacao in ceremony, it was Keith who helped translate this practice into something accessible for people in the modern Western world.
He began hosting cacao ceremonies at his home in San Marcos La Laguna, welcoming spiritual seekers, creatives, healers, and curious travellers. These gatherings were not performances but instead, they were portals. Cacao became the gateway into presence, vulnerability, release, and expansion.
Word began to spread. People reported breakthroughs, emotional healing, creative inspiration, and a new sense of self-awareness. Keith trained others to work with cacao as a facilitator, creating a ripple effect that has now reached every continent.
Today, thousands of people drink Keith’s Cacao in ceremony each week—from London to Los Angeles, from Bali to Berlin.
Cacao Ceremonies at I AM BEING
At I AM BEING, we honour the integrity of Keith’s mission by holding ceremonial space in the same spirit that birthed this global movement. We use only Keith’s Cacao, prepared with reverence and intention, to support people on their journey inward.
Our cacao ceremonies are designed to meet you where you are. Whether you’re navigating change, seeking clarity, or simply desiring to reconnect with yourself, cacao becomes a gentle but powerful ally. The experience is grounded in presence and often accompanied by breathwork, Reiki, sound, or guided meditation.
We don’t see cacao as a trend. We see it as an ancient teacher who has re-emerged for our times and our community in London is feeling its call more than ever.
Why Keith’s Cacao?
There are many cacao products on the market, but Keith’s Cacao stands apart. Here’s why we use it exclusively in our ceremonies at I AM BEING:
- It’s the original ceremonial-grade cacao: Keith coined this term to define cacao that is energetically and spiritually potent.
- Sourced with care: The beans are grown on small farms in the highlands of Guatemala and processed without additives, sweeteners, or high-heat roasting.
- Trusted by thousands of facilitators: Keith’s Cacao is the go-to for ceremonialists worldwide who prioritise quality and integrity.
- Vibrationally alive: It’s cacao with a soul, carrying the spirit of the land and the intention of service.
The Legacy of One Man’s Journey
What started as one man’s inward quest has become a global movement rooted in heart connection, self-inquiry, and collective healing. Keith Wilson didn’t “invent” cacao ceremony but he did remind the modern world how to remember it.
His work lives on through the ceremonies we offer at I AM BEING, and through every cup of cacao we serve with devotion. When you sit with us in ceremony, you are not just drinking a warm, nourishing elixir. You are participating in a lineage that stretches from the ancient Mayan elders to the misty shores of Lake Atitlán to the candlelit spaces of London.
Experience It for Yourself
If Keith’s journey has inspired you, we invite you to join us in one of our upcoming cacao ceremonies at I AM BEING. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, the experience always brings something new.
Let cacao be your companion in coming home to yourself.
Being,
Gizelle Renee Xx
