Healthy Relationships Require Effort

Doesn’t this sound too obvious a statement? Of course a healthy relationship requires effort.

But, wait for it.

There is a difference here between intention and connection. For effort is the bridge between effort of intention and that of connection.

Do you ever wonder if someone actually knows you, properly? The little details of you – the freckle inside your second toe, the way your head leads before your body because you’re so eager or the nervous giggle you have in new situations.

How about moments when you wonder how someone knew the small details? How you like your tea, if you wear you ‘R’ labelled sock on the left foot to be a little cheeky, or your favourite flavour Tony’s bar which will be devoured in ten minutes of gifting.

Effort isn’t about the thought, it is about the action of physically connecting. It is about showing up.

If you care about someone, get to know them, text back, look for the little details, ask questions and make plans. Don’t think that relationships magically grow, they need watering, do the work together. Even Richard Gere got that in the end.

Make your own love story – you deserve one. We all do.

Being,
