What I’ve Learned From Drinking Cacao Every Morning
Before cacao, my mornings often began in reaction mode. I’d check messages, think about my to-do list and let stress dictate the pace of my day before I’d even really started it.
- Presence is something we practise, not something we find.
Before cacao, my mornings often began in reaction mode. I’d check messages, think about my to-do list and let stress dictate the pace of my day before I’d even really started it.
Now, my cacao ritual creates a pause before the noise begins. It gives me a moment to approach the day with more clarity and intention, rather than letting cortisol, busyness and everyone else’s demands lead the way.
I’ve learned that how I start my morning often determines how I experience the rest of my day.
- Energy feels different when it comes from nourishment.
For years, I thought energy came from stimulation. Cacao taught me otherwise.
The gentle, sustained energy it gives me supports my focus, creativity and productivity without the peaks and crashes I used to experience with coffee. Instead of feeling wired, I feel steady, grounded and capable.
It’s reminded me that our bodies thrive when they are nourished, not pushed or deprived.
- The answers I’m looking for are usually already within me.
Some of my most valuable insights have come during quiet moments with a cup of cacao in hand, because it gives me the space to ask myself some seriously hard questions.
The ritual helps me check in honestly. It helps me listen to my body, my emotions and my intuition.
I’ve learned not to be afraid of the harder questions, because more often than not the answers are already there, waiting to be heard. I’m also not supposed to be reaching for perfection.
I threw that out of the window a while ago.
- Small rituals have the power to change our lives.
It hasn’t been the big, dramatic changes that have transformed my wellbeing. It’s the small things I’ve committed to doing consistently.
Making cacao every morning is a simple act, but it reminds me that showing up for myself matters.
I’ve learned that progress comes from consistency, not perfection, and that the smallest rituals can often create the biggest shifts. I really care about showing up for myself because it allows me to show up better in my relationships, my work and my personal life too.
- Life feels better when lived from the heart.
Perhaps the greatest lesson cacao has taught me is to soften. To lead with compassion, gratitude and openness, and to be more present with my children, my family, my friends and my work.
When I take time to connect with my heart each morning, I move through the day with more patience, understanding and joy.
For me, that’s what life is really about.
Sometimes that means I’m honest, perhaps too honest, but as long as it comes from a place of authenticity and love, that’s okay by me.
Not everyone is going to love you, but that’s their stuff, not mine to hold.
